Spanish football is set to make its mark on the African continent with the launch of **La Liga Africa**, announced last week by **Javier Tebas**, president of La Liga, during a visit to South Africa.
“Next summer, we will organize the **LFP World Challenge**, where Spanish first-division clubs will face off against South African teams. It won’t be Barcelona or Real Madrid, but clubs like Atletico Madrid, Valencia, or Athletic Bilbao could participate,” Tebas explained.
The initiative will also feature La Liga ambassadors, including former stars **Luis Figo, Roberto Carlos, and Christian Karembeu**, who are expected to travel to South Africa next summer to promote the project.
Tebas emphasized that South Africa is just the beginning. La Liga aims to expand its presence across the continent, with potential events planned in **Nigeria, Angola, Mozambique, and Tanzania**, bringing the excitement of Spanish football closer to African fans.
