Valencia has appointed Juan Antonio Pizzi as its new coach, as officially announced by the Spanish club in a press release on Thursday.
At 45 years old, Pizzi arrives at Valencia after recently securing the opening tournament of the Argentine Championship as the head coach of San Lorenzo, based in Buenos Aires, a team supported by Pope Francis.
Replacing Serbian coach Miroslav Djukic, Pizzi takes charge after Djukic was dismissed following Valencia’s 3-0 defeat against Atletico Madrid. Notably, Pizzi had previously played as a striker for Valencia FC.
As Pizzi assumes the managerial role, Valencia currently occupies the 11th position in La Liga. The club will be looking to the new coach to bring about positive changes and improvements in their performance.
