Derek Boateng Signs One-Year Deal with Rayo Vallecano
Ghanaian midfielder Derek Boateng is set to return to Spanish football after signing a one-year contract with Rayo Vallecano. The 31-year-old, who joined Fulham last year but struggled for regular playing time in the Premier League, will be rejoining La Liga three years after his departure.
Boateng, a former Getafe player, will be embarking on his 10th professional club stint, having also featured for teams across Europe, including Panathinaikos and OFI Crete in Greece, Dnipro in Ukraine, and Cologne in Germany.
Despite his experience and appearances in the 2006 and 2010 FIFA World Cups with Ghana’s Black Stars, Boateng was not included in the national squad for this summer’s tournament in Brazil.
Expressing his excitement on social media, Boateng tweeted: “I just signed a contract with @RVMOficial! Thanks to club, my agent and everyone who supported me!”
Boateng’s move represents a fresh opportunity to reignite his career in one of Europe’s top leagues and bring his seasoned midfield presence to Rayo Vallecano as they prepare for the upcoming season.
