Spain call up Jacobo Ramon for Nations League games against Czechia and England

Luis de la Fuente has named Jacobo Ramon in Spain’s senior squad for their final Nations League group matches against Czechia and England, with injuries also prompting the return of several players.

The Como defender receives his first senior call-up after impressing this season under Cesc Fabregas. Ramon, who has previously represented Spain at under-21 level, is rewarded for his performances with the Italian club.

Las Palmas goalkeeper Alvaro Valles and Real Betis midfielder Marc Roca are also included for the first time in this squad. Atletico de Madrid midfielder Pablo Barrios and Real Sociedad winger Ander Barrenetxea return to de la Fuente’s plans.

The changes come with Eric Garcia, Rodri and Dani Olmo unavailable because of injury. Roberto Fernandez retains his place in the attack.

Spain will face Czechia at Sparta Prague on Thursday, 12 November 2026, before hosting England at Atletico de Madrid’s Metropolitano on Sunday, 15 November.

De la Fuente began the squad announcement with a video tribute to the victims of the Orda train accident and to the late Jesus de Miguel.

Spain target top spot

Spain have won all four of their Nations League matches so far, giving them 12 points and confirming their place in the quarter-finals.

They are also on an 11-match winning run and have gone 42 matches unbeaten, or 43 when only competitive fixtures are counted.

Top spot in the group remains the priority because the team finishing first will play the second leg of its quarter-final at home. The runners-up will host the first leg before travelling for the return match.

England are second with nine points. They play Croatia at Wembley on Thursday before travelling to Madrid to face Spain three days later.

If England beat Croatia, the group winner will be decided when they meet Spain.
