Gabon’s struggles continued in the 2019 Sud Ladies Cup, the women’s competition of the Maurice Revello Tournament, as the Panthers suffered another heavy defeat on Thursday. Facing a dominant North Korean side, Gabon were thoroughly outclassed in all areas of the pitch, going down 10-0 in a one-sided encounter.
North Korea’s Kim Kyong Yong led the scoring with a hat-trick, while Pong Song Ae added a brace. Additional goals came from Ri Chong Gyong (59’), Si Nae O (67’), Il Gyong Pak (74’), and an own goal by Gabon’s Ibogni Mouity, rounding off the comprehensive victory. This defeat followed previous heavy losses for Gabon in the tournament, including 0-7, 0-11, and 1-3 results, underscoring the team’s difficult campaign.
Despite the challenges, Gabon still has one match remaining in the competition. They will face Mexico this Saturday, offering the Panthers a final opportunity to regroup and end the tournament on a more positive note.
