South African winger Antonio van Wyk extends SV Ried contract
Antonio van Wyk has been handed a contract extension by SV Ried following his strong performances this season.
The South African winger joined the Austrian side in 2024 while the club was competing in the second tier and played a key role in helping the team secure promotion to the top flight last year.
After establishing himself in the squad, the 23-year-old has now signed a new one-year extension with the Austrian Bundesliga outfit.
Van Wyk has contributed three goals and two assists for Ried so far, earning praise from the club’s sporting director Wolfgang Fiala.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Fiala highlighted the winger’s development and growing influence on the team.
“Antonio has developed into an absolute game-changer over the past 18 months, especially during our time in the Bundesliga,” Fiala said, according to the club’s official website.
“He has adapted well to European life and demonstrates his qualities on the pitch week after week. The logical consequence of this is that there was already a lot of demand for him in the winter.
“For us, this move was therefore perfectly logical and makes us look forward to the coming weeks with Antonio.”
