South African outfit Orlando Pirates and Cypriot side Pafos FC share spoils in preseason friendly
In a thrilling clash in Marbella-Spain, Orlando Pirates were held to a 1-1 draw by Cypriot outfit Pafos FC in a preseason friendly.
As part of preparations for the upcoming 2025/26 football campaign, the Soweto giants locked horns with Pafos FC on Sunday afternoon.
Using the match to fine-tune their squad for the impending season, the South African outfit settled to a draw with their opponent as part of their summer tour.
With both coaches exhibiting their tactical prowess in the match, both teams sell good football to their fans. Both teams pressed forward, and Pafos found the net as early as the 7th minute. The Buccaneers kept their composure, seized control of the match, and grabbed the equalizer through Relebohile Mofokeng as the first half ended in a draw.
And with no additional goal in the match, both teams had to settle for a draw in a high-stake friendly game. In the second half, both sides made several substitutions and searched for a breakthrough, but neither managed to secure victory in the game.
Orlando Pirates are expected to lock horns with Cypriot club Pafos as part of their preseason training being held in European country, Spain.
The Soweto giants are keen on making a meaningful impact in the upcoming season following a trophyless run last season.
New coach Abdeslam Ouaddou, who recently took charge of the team is poised to prove with worth to the team heading into the new campaign.
