South African outfit Kaizer Chiefs to offload four players ahead of new season
South African outfit Kaizer Chiefs are considering parting ways with four players ahead of the start of the 2025/26 football campaign.
The Soweto giants are keen on augmenting their squad for the new season in an attempt to compete for laurels. Despite ending their 10-year trophy drought, Kaizer Chiefs finished out of the top eight in the Premier League.
According to reports, four promising Kaizer Chiefs players are at risk of leaving the club soon if their situation doesn’t improve.
Midfielder Mankoba Ozoemena could depart the club, with AmaZulu FC expressing keen interest to sign him, with coach Arthur Zwane viewing the player as a solid option to strengthen the squad ahead of the MTN8 tournament.
Meanwhile, Mduduzi Shabalala, who started the 2024/25 season as the Chiefs’ key playmaker, has gradually lost his place in the starting lineup. His statistics have dipped sharply, scoring 4 goals and providing a single assist in 27 Premier League matches. Despite coming off the bench in the Nedbank Cup victory over Orlando Pirates, his future at the club remains uncertain.
Uncertainty also looms over other Chiefs talents, as 19-year-old prospect Mfundo Vilakazi will require more playing time ahead of the new season. With Gaston Sirino’s departure, his chances could improve.
For 23-year-old holding midfielder Samkelo Zwane, it appears he may have to consider a change of scenery, as competition in the midfield heat up with the arrival of Sifiso Ndlovu and the possible signing of Lebogang Phiri.
