South African outfit Kaizer Chiefs have completed the acquisition of winger Asanele Velebayi in the current transfer window.
The 22-year-old, who previously featured for Cape Town Spurs joins the Soweto giants on a two-year deal with an option to extend for a further year.
Having joined as a free agent, the enterprising winger is expected to play a huge role for Kaizer Chiefs this season.
Velebayi recently departed Cape Town Spurs, bringing an end to his five-year spell at the club.
“Chiefs Welcome Velebayi to Naturena. We would like to announce the signing of Asanele Velebayi. The Cape Town-born winger has signed a long-term contract with the Club” wrote the club on social media.
Velebayi is a product of the Ajax Cape Town academy, and this is only the third full transfer of his professional career.
Kaizer Chiefs are bolstering their squad for the 2025/26 campaign in an attempt to compete for laurels. Despite ending their trophyless run, the Soweto giants missed out on the top eight in the South African top-flight, prompting swift squad augmentation for the new campaign.
The Soweto outfit secured victory in their opening fixture of the Premier League and will be hoping to maintain their performance throughput the season.
