South African outfit Kaizer Chiefs make Khanyisa Mayo deal permanent

Kaizer Chiefs have officially ended the uncertainty surrounding Khanyisa Mayo’s future by completing the permanent signing of the striker from Algerian giants CR Belouizdad.

The Glamour Boys confirmed that Mayo is now a full Kaizer Chiefs player following his loan spell at the club last season, bringing an end to weeks of speculation over whether the forward would remain at Naturena.

Mayo’s future had been surrounded by doubts after reports suggested that Chiefs had not completed payment of the agreed transfer fee to CR Belouizdad. The situation created uncertainty over his status, with questions also raised about his impact after a difficult spell that saw some supporters question whether he could become a long-term asset for the club.

However, Kaizer Chiefs have now moved to resolve the matter by finalising a permanent agreement with the Algerian side, securing the services of the 27-year-old striker ahead of the new campaign.

In an official statement, Kaizer Chiefs confirmed the completion of the deal and revealed that the transfer fee remains undisclosed.

“Kaizer Chiefs have completed the permanent signing of Khanyisa Mayo from Algerian giants CR Belouizdad, following his loan spell with the Glamour Boys last season,” the club announced.

“The deal was finalised for an undisclosed fee agreed upon between the two Clubs.”

The club added that Mayo’s efforts during his loan period convinced them to make the move permanent, as they continue preparations for a demanding season under head coach Fernando Da Cruz.

“Mayo, who worked hard during his one-season loan stint, now commits his future to Chiefs as the team prepares for an ambitious campaign under head coach Fernando Da Cruz.”

The striker is expected to play a key role in Chiefs’ attacking plans as they compete across multiple fronts, including domestic competitions and CAF continental football.

“The 27-year-old forward will be a key part of the squad competing in both the domestic league and continental CAF competitions.”

Mayo joined Chiefs after making a name for himself in South African football, particularly during his time with Cape Town City, where his goalscoring ability earned him recognition and eventually led to his move abroad.

Despite facing challenges during his early period at Chiefs, the club believes the forward still has the qualities needed to strengthen their attacking department.
