South African powerhouse Mamelodi Sundowns have set sights on securing the services of Portugal-based defender Innocent Mabuza as the summer transfer window approaches.
Sundowns are seeking to augment to squad ahead of the maiden FIFA Club World Cup tournament to be staged in the USA in June.
However, Sundowns have identified the 24-year-old right-back as the player to solidify their defense for upcoming competitions.
Innocent Mabuza currently plies his trade for Portuguese fourth-tier club Lusitano, with his contract set to expire at the end of the campaign.
The 24-year-old moved to Portugal in 2018 from the KZN Academy but has spent his entire career in the lower divisions of the country. He is currently playing in Portugal’s fourth league.
Due to his speed, Mabuza has earned the nickname “Ferrari” and is considered one of the best players in his league.
The enterprising defender could make a return to South Africa to continue his career after several years in the European country.
