Mamelodi Sundowns forward Monnapule Saleng has expressed his excitement after marking his debut in their Premiership clash against Sekhukhune United.

The former Orlando Pirates and Orbit College midfielder made substitute appearance as his outfit cruised to a 3-1 victory over their opponent at the weekend.

Saleng joined the Sea Robbers in the January transfer window from Pirates via Orbit College half a season loan spell and had to recover from injury before making it to the starting line-up at Sundowns.

After being introduced with 10 minutes remaining on the clock, Saleng made an immediate impact when he created Iqraam Rayners’ goal at Loftus Versveld Stadium.

“I want to thank the coach, technical team and the players, the preparation was good – since training and coming into the game and I need to thank [Miguel Cardoso] was giving me the opportunity to play today,” Saleng said to Sundowns media.

“The fans made me feel welcome; it’s been a while since they’ve seen me play. I was happy and I appreciate the reception from the supporters. I’d also like to thank the captain Themba Zwane and all the player for encouraging me in training.

“I just want to continue winning, that’s the only thing I want us to do and that’s the most important thing. It feels good for me – this is a team that always strives to win.

“I’m happy to be able to contribute amongst the three goals that were scored. It shows that I also have something to offer this team going forward.”
