Highly-profiled South African trainer Pitso Mosimane has downplayed reports linking him to Orlando Pirates.
The South African giants are seeking for a new coach as Spanish tactician Jose Riveiro is set to depart the club at the end of the campaign.
Mosimane, considered as one of the best coaches on the African continent has had stints with Al Ahly, Al Ahly Jeddah, Al-Wahda, Abha, and Esteghlal. He spearheaded Al Ahly-s back-to-back CAF champions League success.
Despite downplaying the links, Mosimane has refused to rule out the Orlando Pirates coaching job.
“I’ve seen it speculation. Nobody has spoken to me. So, we can’t be talking about nothing, we will see. At the moment this badge means a lot to me, more than any other badge” he said.
The South African coach has been without a club since his departure from Esteghlal FC, so he is expected to be offered a new coaching opportunity soon after his departure from the Iranian side.
Riveiro has been instrumental since joining Orlando Pirates three seasons ago. He is currently in the semifinals of the South African Cup competitions and the CAF Champions League campaign.
As he is set to leave, Pirates are aiming to hire an experience coach to steer affairs of the club.
