South African club Cape Town City have announced the appointment of Dutch trainer Jan Vreman as their new head coach ahead of the 2025/26 football campaign.
Vreman joins the South African club, bringing an end to his spell at Dutch outfit De Graafschap.
As the club gear up for the Motsepe Foundation Championship, Jan Vreman is expected to mastermind for their return to the top-flight.
After being relegated from the Premier League this season, the team now faces a tough challenge returning to the top flight of South African football.
“Cape Town City is delighted to announce the appointment of Jan Vreman as the new Head Coach of the club” wrote the club.
Having recently been linked with purchasing a topflight status after getting relegated, City are preparing for life in the second tier.
Vreman worked in different positions at De Graafschap, from their youth side to the first team, gaining experience which could come in handy as the Citizens rebuild. A number of players have left the club as free agents, while the likes of Jaedin Rhodes, Jody Ah Shene, Shakeel April and Emile Witbooi are available for sale at the right price.
The Dutch trainer has a big job having to rebuild the squad and still challenge for automatic promotion.
Cape Town City want to make an immediate return and the club will have to use his experience of working with youth and experience to guide the team back up to the Betway Premiership.
