South African attacker Cassius Mailula arrives in Belgium to begin KV Kortrijk career
South African international Cassius Mailula has arrived in Belgium to begin his career at KV Kortrijk after switching from the Major League Soccer, where he featured for Toronto FC.
The 24-year-old, born in Limpopo is expected to be registered among Kortrijk squad for the current football campaign.
During his spell with the MLS side, the South African attacker was farmed out on loan, featuring for Wydad Casablanca last season.
With his wealth of experience, the forward is expected to play a huge role for Kortrijk in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League.
The move offers the South African international the opportunity to explore in Europe after spells on the African continent and in North America.
Cassius Mailula made the move to Toronto from Mamelodi Sundowns in 2023 for €1.5 million.
Last season, Mailula played on loan at Moroccan club Wydad, where he featured in 36 matches, scoring 6 goals and providing 7 assists. He was part of the squad that featured at the FIFA Club World Cup tournament in the USA.
The 24-year-old has made just two appearances for the South African national team since making his debut in 2023.
