South Africa striker Tshegofatso Mabasa joins MAS Fes from Orlando Pirates

South African centre-forward Tshegofatso Mabasa has joined Moroccan club MAS Fes from Orlando Pirates on a free transfer.

The 29-year-old has signed a contract running until 30 June 2029 and moves to the Botola Pro Inwi side after ending his spell with the South African champions.

Mabasa returns to Orlando Pirates following a loan spell at Stellenbosch FC during the second half of the 2025-26 season. He joined Stellenbosch on 16 January 2026 and returned to Pirates when the loan ended on 30 June.

His departure comes after a successful campaign with Pirates, who won the South African championship and South African Cup in 2025-26. Mabasa also collected his third MTN8 Cup winners’ medal during the season, having previously lifted the trophy with Pirates in 2020-21 and 2024-25.

The left-footed striker has been a regular scorer in South African football. He has recorded 53 goals in 184 Betway Premiership appearances, while his Nedbank Cup record stands at nine goals in 18 matches. He also has four goals in 15 CAF Champions League appearances and three in 13 CAF Confederation Cup games.

Mabasa finished as the DStv Premiership’s leading scorer in the 2023-24 season after scoring 16 goals. That campaign came during his time with Moroka Swallows, where he spent the season on loan from Pirates.

He initially joined Orlando Pirates from B.Fontein Celtic in July 2019 and has since had further loan spells at Sekhukhune and Moroka Swallows. His move to MAS Fes is the first transfer in his career outside South Africa.

Born in Botshabelo, Free State, Mabasa stands 1.79m tall and operates as a centre-forward. He joins MAS Fes with a current market value of €1.3m and begins a new chapter in Morocco after seven years as an Orlando Pirates player.

Mabasa’s free transfer to MAS Fes was completed on 3 August 2026, with his new contract secured through June 2029.
