South African forward Percy Tau is reportedly demanding an annual salary of $1.4 million to make a move to Egyptian giants Zamalek SC.
Tau, who previously played for Mamelodi Sundowns and, most recently, Al Ahly, is currently with Qatar SC on a short-term contract set to expire in June.
He joined the Qatari side in January on a six-month deal after parting ways with Al Ahly.
Zamalek are believed to be in the market for experienced attacking options as they brace for the possible departure of their star winger Ahmed Sayed “Zizo”.
The Egyptian international has attracted interest from arch-rivals Al Ahly as well as clubs in the Middle East.
According to reports from Egyptian media outlets, Zamalek view Tau as a suitable replacement for Zizo.
However, negotiations could stall over the South African’s reported salary expectations, which the club reportedly sees as excessive.
Additionally, Tau is said to be hesitant about a potential move to Zamalek due to his past ties with Al Ahly.
Despite this, the Bafana Bafana star is reportedly open to attractive offers and is not ruling out continuing his career in the Gulf region.
Since joining Qatar SC, Tau has contributed four assists in nine appearances, underlining his continued influence on the pitch.
