South Africa rising star Relebohile Mofokeng linked with Union Saint-Gilloise move
South African rising star Relebohile Mofokeng has reportedly emerged as a major transfer target for Belgian side Royale Union Saint-Gilloise ahead of the new season.
As per reports, the talented midfielder is expected to travel to the European country later this week to finalise personal terms with the club as negotiations over his move gather momentum.
With Orlando Pirates and Union Saint-Gilloise reaching an agreement, the enterprising player is expected to seal a move to the club in the coming days.
Mofokeng’s potential move comes shortly after his impressive performances for South Africa national football team at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The youngster played an important role for Bafana Bafana during their historic tournament run under Belgian coach Hugo Broos.
The gifted midfielder particularly caught the eye during South Africa’s matches against Czech Republic national football team and South Korea national football team, where his composure, creativity and energy in midfield earned widespread praise.
Although Mofokeng was less influential during Bafana Bafana’s narrow 1-0 defeat to Canada in the Round of 32, the performance reportedly did little to weaken Union Saint-Gilloise’s determination to secure his signature.
At just 21 years old, Mofokeng is regarded as one of South Africa’s brightest young talents, and a move to Belgium could provide the ideal platform for his development in European football.
Union Saint-Gilloise have built a strong reputation in recent years for developing young players and competing at a high level both domestically and in European competitions.
