Orlando Pirates moved to the top of the Betway Premiership table after a composed 2-0 victory away to AmaZulu in a rescheduled Matchday 7 fixture played in Durban on 3 February.
The visitors delivered a controlled and disciplined performance on the road, gradually asserting their authority before securing a result that lifts them above their title rivals.
After a cautious opening spell from both sides, Orlando Pirates began to raise the tempo and were rewarded in the 16th minute when Mofokeng broke the deadlock.
The early goal allowed Pirates to dictate the rhythm of the match.
They pressed high up the pitch in an effort to extend their advantage, forcing AmaZulu into repeated defensive actions.
Despite sustained pressure, the hosts managed to resist further damage before the break and looked for opportunities to respond on the counter.
AmaZulu came closest to an equaliser midway through the first half. In the 30th minute, Ngwenya found space to shoot, but his effort was kept out by the Orlando Pirates goalkeeper.
The home side threatened again shortly before half-time when Appollis broke through on goal, only to see his attempt strike the post in the 42nd minute.
Although AmaZulu showed flashes of intent, Orlando Pirates remained the more dominant side throughout the first half, controlling possession and limiting the hosts to isolated chances as the teams went into the interval with the visitors holding a narrow lead.
After the restart, Orlando Pirates continued to push forward, keeping AmaZulu pinned back for long periods.
The Durban side defended resolutely, but struggled to gain a foothold in midfield as the visitors recycled possession and searched for a decisive second goal.
Several chances went begging as Orlando Pirates failed to convert their dominance into a clearer advantage.
AmaZulu held their defensive shape and attempted to stay in the contest, but sustained pressure gradually wore them down.
The match was finally settled deep into stoppage time.
In the 94th minute, Johnson inadvertently turned the ball into his own net, sealing a 2-0 victory for Orlando Pirates.
The win takes Orlando Pirates to the top of the league standings on 35 points, while AmaZulu remain fourth, now five points adrift of the leaders.
