Wydad Athletic Club midfielder Thembinkosi Lorch is set to complete his move to Libyan side Al Ittihad next week, despite having recently signed with the club.
On Sunday, the South Africa star featured in Wydad’s 1-0 CAF Confederation Cup group-stage win over Maniema Union, marking his first appearance since the announcement of his transfer.
The timing of his involvement sparked speculation that the match could be his last for the Moroccan side.
Wydad coach Amine Benhachem has since clarified that Lorch will remain with the team for one more fixture, with the midfielder expected to play in the return leg against Maniema Union on Sunday, 1 February.
Benhachem stressed that the club would not have allowed Lorch to depart without first securing a replacement capable of maintaining their attacking standards.
To that end, Wydad recently signed 18-year-old Bolivian winger Moises Paniagua on loan from Always Ready, with an option to make the move permanent in June 2026.
Sources indicate that the transfer was largely driven by Lorch himself, as Wydad were keen to retain the South African star.
