South Africa Keeper Ronwen Williams urges fans to stay positive ahead of crucial final World Cup qualifier

South Africa goalkeeper Ronwen Williams has called on fans not to doubt their qualification chances ahead of the final round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The Bafana Bafana takes on Rwanda in a must-win clash on Tuesday evening at Mbombela Stadium., with South Africa yearning for a win to keep their chances of qualification alive.

A win for Bafana Bafana guarantees them qualification should Benin fall to Nigeria in the other Group C match.

However, Williams, who plies his trade for Mamelodi Sundowns insists the side is ready to see off Rwanda to ensure their qualification aspirations remain intact.

“I urge the supporters to please stay positive. We stay positive that we will get the positive result.”

Williams says that their only defeat in their quest for qualifying for next year’s World Cup was in Kigali makes this evening’s game they are ready to avenge in.

“We have a score to settle with Rwanda. They are only nation that beat us in this campaign and we know what they put us through.”

Currently, Benin sit top of Group C with 17 points, needing a win to confirm their place for the biggest soccer mundial to be staged in the USA, Canada and Mexico next year.

Meanwhile, a draw could still be sufficient for Benin if South Africa fail to overcome Rwanda at Mbombela Stadium.

Nigeria, on the other hand, will have to secure victory over Benin and await the outcome of the South Africa’s encounter with Rwanda to determine their fate for qualification.
