South Africa great Benni McCarthy confirms talks with three MLS clubs over coaching role
Benni McCarthy, former Manchester United forwards coach, has confirmed undergoing interviews with three Major League Soccer (MLS) clubs, eyeing a coaching role next season.
Speaking at a Carling Black Label Cup media briefing in Sandton, McCarthy expressed his ambition to take on a leading position, highlighting his interest in the American league.
He noted that any decisions would be finalized after the ongoing MLS season concludes, with playoffs determining the league champion.
“I had three interviews in the MLS. That’s where I could be targeting to go. For now they are towards the end of their season and they are just waiting for the playoffs to crown the champions and after that they will decide. But I am looking forward to one of those positions in the MLS which I was interviewed for. I would really like to coach there and improve my career,” McCarthy said.
“I have set my ambitions very high. You know if you dream small you achieve small but if you dream big you achieve big things and that’s what I am doing. I am dreaming big and I am looking at going to the MLS and experience the game there and see what we can achieve. But yeah, I have set my ambitions very high and that’s why I went for those interviews.”
