South Africa defender Siyabonga Ngezana risk missing AFCON 2025 after injury setback

South Africa international Siyabonga Ngezana could miss the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations following injury setback in Romania.

Ngezana, who plies his trade for Steaua Bucuresti sustained a knee injury in the Romanian derby against Dinamo Bucuresti, as both teams shared the spoils.

The former Kaizer Chiefs marksman enterprising defender is expected to miss his outfit Europa League clash against Feyenoord on Thursday, casting doubt about his availability for the AFCON.

“His knee hurt and he couldn’t continue. He went to therapy this morning, let’s see if he can play on Thursday,” said Steaua Bucuresti General Manager Mihai Stoica.

Ngezana’s absence for the Feyenoord clash is expected to affect his outfit, having played an integral role for the club this season.

Ngezana is expected to join the Bafana camp later as per agreement with SAFA and his team but the injury and its extent is unknown.
