South Africa coach Hugo Broos wary of Nigeria’s threat despite Victor Osimhen’s absence for crunch World Cup qualifier
The head coach of South Africa, Hugo Broos, is not letting his guard down ahead of his team’s clash against Nigeria in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Although he is aware Super Eagles dangerman Victor Osimhen is not available for the crunch meeting, the coach insists that the opponent still has a lot of quality and his team must not underrate them.
Speaking in a pre-match interview, Hugo Broos said the plan is to fight for the win against Nigeria on the matchday.
“We also have injuries, and I think Osimhen is a very good striker. But I think the coach has lots of options to replace him.
“Also, many Nigerian journalists have been showing us stats that we don’t care about. What we know is that Nigeria has never beaten Bafana Bafana in tomorrow’s match,” the South Africa coach said.
The highly anticipated showdown between South Africa and Nigeria will be played on Tuesday, September 9.
