South Africa coach Hugo Broos hands late call up to Stellenbosch star Thabo Moloisane

Stellenbosch star Thabo Moloisane has earned a late call up to join the South Africa squad for their final 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Rwanda.

Thabo Moloisane joins the Bafana Bafana squad as a replacement for Orlando Pirates star Mbekezeli Mbokazi, who received the marching orders in their penultimate game against Zimbabwe.

The Bafana Bafana settled for a stalemate against Zimbabwe and will have to wait until the final day of the qualifiers to determine their World Cup qualification fate.

In a high-stake clash on Tuesday, South Africa will take on Rwanda at the Mbombela Stadium, with the Bafana Bafana needing victory to cushion their qualification chances.

“Thabo Moloisane has just arrived in the Bafana Bafana camp in Mbombela, Mpumalanga. He arrived minutes after Bafana Bafana landed from Durban this afternoon. He replaces the suspended Mbekezeli Mbokazi,” SAFA announced.

South Africa’s World Cup qualification suffered a huge after being docked three points and three goals for fielding an eligible player, Teboho Mokoena.
