South Africa coach Hugo Broos has set sights on securing victories against Lesotho and Benin in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
The former African champions will face Lesotho on Friday, March 21 at Peter Mokaba Stadium before traveling to Ivory Coast to take on Benin on Tuesday, March 25, 2025.
With only the top team securing automatic qualification, the Belgian tactician and his charges must deliver results to better their chances of qualifying.
And in an interview, Broos asserted victories against Lesotho and Benin could cushion their qualification bid.
“As everybody knows, we have important games in front of us. If we can achieve two victories against Lesotho and Benin, we can take a big step towards qualification. Lesotho is a team that fights for every ball, and playing against South Africa will motivate them even more,” Broos stated.
The Bafana Bafana are currently second in Group C with seven points, level with leaders Rwanda, while Lesotho sits in fourth place, just two points behind.
Meanwhile, referees from Djibouti have been appointed by CAF to handle the game between South Africa and Lesotho.
