South Africa coach Hugo Broos describes Zimbabwe clash as the most important game in over 24-years
Head coach of the South African national team, Hugo Broos has described his outfit penultimate 2026 World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe as the most important match in the last 24-25 years.
The Bafana Bafana’s World Cup qualification bid suffered a major setback after being declared losers in their match against Lesotho back in March for fielding an eligible player, Teboho Mokoena.
South Africa are now second in Group C, and now faces must-win clashes against Zimbabwe and Rwanda this month.
The Bafana Bafana will play host to Zimbabwe on Friday, October 10 in Johannesburg before traveling to Kigali for the final round of games, four days later.
“I think this game is one of the most important in the last 24 or 25 years. By victory, we have a chance to qualify. By defeat, I think we can stop dreaming.
“So, that means it’s very important, but it will be difficult. Zimbabwe has always been a difficult opponent,” the Belgian coach added.
South Africa sit second in Group C, but are tied on 14 points with log leaders Benin, with two games to end the qualification series.
