South Africa: Bounty Offered for Capture of Senzo Meyiwa’s Killers

R150,000 REWARD OFFERED TO FIND SENZO MEYIWA’S KILLERS

A reward of 150,000 Rand (approximately €10,000) is being offered for any information leading to the arrest of the assailants who shot and killed South African goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa on Sunday night.

Meyiwa, captain of Orlando Pirates and a key figure in South African football, was fatally wounded during a home invasion. He succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the hospital. According to police reports, three unidentified suspects fled the scene and are currently being pursued.

In response to the tragedy, South African police have launched an intensive manhunt and are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward.

The incident has shaken the nation and prompted the Premier Soccer League (PSL) to postpone the highly anticipated Soweto derby between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs, which was scheduled for Monday.

“Out of respect for the memory of Senzo Meyiwa, the Soweto derby has been postponed. A new date will be communicated later,” said Brand de Villiers, president of the PSL, during a press conference.

Senzo Meyiwa was not only a national football icon but also a symbol of leadership and inspiration. His untimely death has left a deep void in South African sport.
