South Africa: Former Star Benni McCarthy Victim of Armed Robbery in Johannesburg
Former South African international Benedict “Benni” McCarthy narrowly escaped harm on Wednesday after being the victim of an armed robbery while at a hair salon in Johannesburg, according to reports from English media outlets.
The former FC Porto and West Ham United striker, who remains one of South Africa’s most iconic footballers, was confronted by armed assailants but escaped uninjured. The attackers made off with some of McCarthy’s personal belongings, including a watch, earrings, and wedding ring.
Fortunately, the incident was limited to theft and did not result in any physical harm to McCarthy.
