Soungoutou Magassa: Galatasaray linked with move for West Ham midfielder

France- and Mali-eligible midfielder Soungoutou Magassa of West Ham is being linked with a move to Turkish giants Galatasaray as the Istanbul club assess options in defensive midfield. The 22-year-old, who joined West Ham from Monaco in August 2025, is under contract at the London club until June 2031 but has emerged as a potential target for the Super Lig side.

Galatasaray are monitoring Magassa’s situation after a first season in English football in which he featured regularly in the Premier League, making 22 appearances and scoring once. His current valuation is around €17m, and any move is expected to require a significant fee given the length of his contract and West Ham’s investment in bringing him to England.

Magassa, born in Stains and standing at 1.90m, built his reputation at Monaco, progressing through their youth ranks before stepping up to the first team in Ligue 1. He made 44 league appearances for the principality club and also gained experience in the Champions League, where he scored once in seven outings, form that attracted West Ham’s attention last summer.

West Ham paid a reported €17m to sign him from Monaco at the start of the 2025-26 campaign, and he has since been used primarily in a holding midfield role. With five years still left on his deal at the London Stadium, West Ham are under no pressure to sell, and any approach from Galatasaray would need to test the club’s resolve to part with a player tied down on a long-term contract.
