Soumaïla Coulibaly’s growing form at Stade Brest has prompted Borussia Dortmund to explore ways to bring him back sooner than planned.
The 21-year-old defender, on loan in France for the 2024/25 season, has impressed enough for BVB to want him in their squad for the upcoming Club World Cup.
The Bundesliga side believes Coulibaly’s progress makes him a strong option for their backline. After spending last season on loan at Royal Antwerp in Belgium, the young centre-back has continued to develop steadily, earning renewed interest from Dortmund’s management.
Sky reports that the German club sees him as part of their future and would like him available by the start of Club World Cup preparations on June 2. However, his current loan deal with Brest runs through June 30, creating a scheduling challenge.
Talks have already begun, with Coulibaly’s representatives recently visiting Dortmund to discuss the matter. The club is now working on a possible solution to bring him back early without breaching the existing loan terms.
