Souleymane Bamba Joins Palermo After Leaving Trabzonspor
Ivorian defender Souleymane Bamba has officially signed a three-year contract with Italian Serie A club Palermo. The club confirmed the signing on its official website on Tuesday, following Bamba’s successful medical examination.
Bamba, whose contract with Turkish side Trabzonspor ended last week, will now embark on his fourth European league experience, having previously played in England and Turkey. The 29-year-old was developed at Paris Saint-Germain’s youth academy and brings valuable international experience to Palermo’s backline.
The defender earned his first call-up to the Ivory Coast national team on 19 November 2008 in a friendly against Israel. He was also part of the Elephants squad that competed at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
Palermo hopes Bamba’s defensive solidity and international pedigree will bolster their Serie A campaign in the coming seasons.
