Soufiane Boufal and Al Rayyan have mutually agreed to part ways following a challenging season for the Moroccan international. The Qatari club announced the termination of Boufal’s contract on Monday, September 2, via their official social media channels.
The club’s statement confirmed the end of the partnership, stating, “The club and the player Soufiane Boufal have reached an agreement to terminate the contract between the two parties by mutual consent.”
It continued, “Thank you, Soufiane. We wish you good luck and success in the future.”
Boufal, who turned 30 in September, has struggled with injuries throughout his time at Al Rayyan.
His most notable injury occurred in January during a training session with the Moroccan national team, just before their match against Zambia in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
This setback significantly impacted his contributions on the field.
Over the past season, Boufal made only ten appearances for Al Rayyan, scoring three goals and providing two assists across all competitions.
His limited playing time and recurring injuries have ultimately led to the decision to terminate his contract.
During the recent transfer window, Boufal was reportedly a target for Egyptian club Al Ahly, indicating that the winger could potentially continue his career in a new environment.
This departure marks the end of Boufal’s brief stint with Al Rayyan, as both parties move forward separately.
The player, known for his dynamic play and attacking prowess, will now seek new opportunities to reignite his career.
