Moroccan international Souffian El Karouani has been named in the Eredivisie Team of the Week following his contribution to FC Utrecht’s latest league performance.

The left-sided defender was included in the selection compiled by Voetbal International after Matchday 32, recognising his role in Utrecht’s victory over NAC Breda.

The result came after a match in which Utrecht held a numerical advantage for a significant period but only managed to convert that dominance into a decisive goal late on.

Dani de Wit eventually broke the deadlock in the closing stages, sealing the win and earning his place in the weekly selection.

El Karouani was joined in the team by his Utrecht teammates Gjivai Zechiël and De Wit, underlining the club’s strong representation in the lineup.

While Ajax and PSV shared the points in their weekend clash, it was Ajax who still managed to place players in the Team of the Week.

Despite that, they were not the most represented club, with Utrecht leading the way following their victory.

Ajax had two players included, with Mika Godts being named Player of the Week after his performance against PSV.

His display, alongside teammate Anton Gaaei, who also scored in the match, earned both players ratings of 7.5. Their inclusion reflected the impact they had in a high-profile fixture.

Elsewhere, SC Heerenveen also had multiple representatives. Goalkeeper Bernt Klaverboer was recognised after keeping a clean sheet against FC Volendam, while central defender Sam Kersten secured his place with a solid defensive showing.

The Team of the Week was further completed by standout performers from across the league.

Feyenoord’s Tsuyoshi Watanabe, AZ’s Peer Koopmeiners, Excelsior’s Derensili Sanches Fernandes, and FC Twente’s Sam Lammers were all selected following notable individual displays.

For El Karouani, the recognition highlights his consistency and growing influence at club level.

His inclusion alongside several in-form players across the Eredivisie reflects his contribution during a key stage of the season, as clubs continue to compete for their respective objectives.
