Sonderjyske sign Gambian striker Bubacarr Tambedou from FCI Levadia

Gambian centre-forward Bubacarr Tambedou has joined Danish club Sonderjyske from Estonian side FCI Levadia, completing a move to the Superliga after making a strong start to the UEFA Conference League qualifying campaign.

Tambedou, 24, arrives at Sonderjyske having featured in all four of Levadia’s Conference League qualifying matches during the 2026-27 season. He scored once and provided three assists, starting each game and playing 96% of the available minutes.

The right-footed striker becomes part of Sonderjyske’s squad after a career that has taken him across Estonia, Moldova, Israel and Georgia. He had been with FCI Levadia since January 2025, following his move from Georgian club Dinamo Batumi.

Tambedou joined Levadia after leaving Dinamo Batumi, where he had spent part of the 2024-25 season. His previous move to the Georgian club came after a spell with Hapoel Tel Aviv, which signed him from Paide in February 2024 for €125,000.

The Gambian forward has already collected honours in several domestic competitions. He won the Estonian Cup with Paide Linnameeskond in 2022, the Moldovan league and cup double with FC Sheriff Tiraspol during the 2022-23 season, and the Estonian Super Cup with FCI Levadia in 2025.

His first spell at Paide began in January 2022 on loan from Real de Banjul, before he returned to the Gambian club at the end of that year. He then rejoined Paide in January 2023, with the move following the conclusion of his period at Real de Banjul.

Listed at 1.80 metres, Tambedou has played primarily as a centre-forward throughout his career. His latest performances in Europe included a goal and three assists in four appearances, providing his most recent competitive record before the switch to Denmark.

Sonderjyske compete in Denmark’s top division, while FCI Levadia play in Estonia’s Premium Liiga. The transfer therefore takes Tambedou into a new league after his latest campaign in European qualifying.

Tambedou’s move to Sonderjyske was completed on 4 August 2026.
