Paris Saint-Germain’s Spanish coach, Luis Enrique, has found the ideal player to fill in for the Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi during his absence for the Africa Cup of Nations, hosted by Ivory Coast.
According to the French newspaper “Le Parisien,” Enrique is leaning towards relying on the Spanish player Carlos Soler at the right-back position.
Soler is set to benefit from Hakimi’s absence, as Enrique has previously called upon his services in the right-back position during matches against Reims and Strasbourg.
The PSG coach had also turned to the French defender Nordi Mukiele during Hakimi’s previous absences.
It is anticipated that Hakimi will regain his formal position in Paris Saint-Germain immediately upon his return from participating in the African football extravaganza.
Hakimi is considered one of the standout stars for the team, making it challenging to overlook his contributions.
Hakimi, 25, tied to Paris Saint-Germain with a contract extending until June 30, 2026, ranks among the most valuable African players in European football.
His absence due to national team duty provides an opportunity for Soler to showcase his capabilities and contribute to the team’s defensive lineup.
As the Africa Cup of Nations unfolds, Paris Saint-Germain’s coaching staff will closely monitor Soler’s performance in Hakimi’s stead, recognizing the critical role each player plays in the team’s quest for success both domestically and on the continental stage.
