Feghouli Pledges Loyalty to Valencia Amid Interest from European Giants
Algerian international Sofiane Feghouli has confirmed his commitment to Valencia CF, despite attracting interest from top European clubs following his standout performances at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
Feghouli, 24, was a central figure in Algeria’s impressive World Cup campaign, which saw the Fennecs reach the Round of 16 for the first time in their history. His pace, technical skill, and creativity made him a key architect of the team’s attacking play and drew attention from elite clubs in Italy and England, including reported interest from AC Milan and Juventus.
However, speaking ahead of Valencia’s pre-season tour of Peru, the midfielder moved to end speculation about his future.
“As I’ve said before and I’ll say it again, I’m staying with Valencia this season. My departure is not an option, and I’m happy to continue my adventure with the team. I hope this season will be better,” Feghouli told reporters.
Now entering his fifth season with Valencia, Feghouli remains a fan favourite at the Mestalla. Since joining the Spanish side in 2010, he has grown into a central figure in the squad, known for his dynamic runs and ability to unlock defences.
Valencia’s pre-season trip to South America, including friendlies in Peru, is part of the club’s efforts to boost its global profile. Feghouli welcomed the experience, highlighting its value for both sporting and cultural development.
“We’re going to another continent, and I think it’s good for Valencia’s image to play this kind of match. It will allow us, the players, to discover new countries and another culture. These two matches will especially help us in our pre-season preparation. It’s going to be a good experience, I’m sure of it,” he added.
With his international reputation rising and his commitment to Valencia reaffirmed, Feghouli appears focused on both contributing to his club’s ambitions and building on the momentum from a historic summer with Algeria.
