Moroccan international Sofiane Boufal has revealed his strong desire to return to the Atlas Lions squad ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup following his recent resurgence with Le Havre AC.

The experienced winger spoke openly about his ambitions during a recent interview with Foot Mercato, stressing that representing Morocco again at the global tournament remains one of his biggest objectives.

Boufal Dreams of Another World Cup Appearance

“As professional footballers, we all aspire to play in the biggest international tournaments. Today, I’m playing in a competitive league,” Boufal said.

“I’m lucky enough to string together matches without any injuries. So it’s only natural that people are talking about me for this World Cup. I would be the happiest man alive if this World Cup comes my way.”

The 32-year-old has enjoyed an encouraging return to form this season, registering one goal and three assists in 16 appearances for Le Havre.

Atlas Lions Star Looking to Earn Recall

Boufal’s recent performances have reignited discussions about a potential return to the Moroccan national team ahead of next year’s World Cup.

The winger remains one of the standout figures from Morocco’s historic campaign at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, where the Atlas Lions became the first African and Arab nation to reach the semi-finals.

Alongside Hakim Ziyech, Boufal formed one of the tournament’s most exciting attacking partnerships and earned widespread praise for his creativity and flair.

Experienced Winger Hoping for Final Opportunity

With 46 appearances for Morocco, the former Southampton player is hoping his strong finish to the season can convince the national team technical staff to hand him another opportunity on the international stage.

As Morocco continue preparations for the 2026 World Cup, Boufal is determined to prove he still has an important role to play for the Atlas Lions.
