Smouha end 10-match winless run with victory over Talaea El Gaish

Smouha claimed their first Egyptian Premier League victory of the season by beating Tala’ea El Gaish 1-0 in the fifth round.

Mohamed Saeed, known as “Macarona”, scored the only goal of the match to secure three points for Smouha.

The result ended a run of 10 league games without a win, taking into account the end of last season. Smouha had played four matches in the current campaign and six in the previous season without recording a victory.

Their sequence before facing Tala’ea El Gaish consisted of nine defeats and one draw.

Macarona broke the deadlock in the 62nd minute with a well-taken header. It was his first goal since scoring against Al Ittihad Alexandria on 14 May 2024 during the 2023-2024 season.

The win moved Smouha to four points and 16th place in the Egyptian Premier League table. Tala’ea El Gaish remain seventh with seven points.
