Fayçal Fajr played a decisive role as SM Caen secured a vital 1-0 victory against Dijon on Sunday in the 34th round of Ligue 1. The Moroccan midfielder scored the match-winning goal, giving the Normandy club renewed hope in their fight against relegation.
After the game, Fajr expressed his satisfaction while keeping focus on the challenges ahead. “Satisfied? Of course! We’ve been waiting for this victory for so long. We wanted to take these three points at home. We had this image that SMC was better away from home, we proved that we have a say even at home. But it’s not over yet, we’re already focused on Guingamp,” he said in the mixed zone.
The win moves Caen closer to safety, as the club currently sits 18th in the Ligue 1 standings, three points behind 17th-placed Monaco, who have a game in hand. With crucial matches remaining, including their upcoming clash against Guingamp, SM Caen will rely on Fajr and other key players to maintain momentum and fight for survival in France’s top flight.
