Skelly Alvero has completed a loan move from Werder Bremen to Amiens SC, joining the Ligue 2 side from the Bundesliga club on a temporary deal starting 2026-02-02 and running until 2026-06-30. The transfer is confirmed as a loan transfer, with Werder retaining his registration and Amiens adding the tall defensive midfielder to their squad for the remainder of the season.
The 23-year-old, valued at €2.50m at the time of the move, arrives in Picardy from the German top flight, where he was under contract with Werder Bremen. This switch places him in France’s second tier, with a defined end point to the arrangement when he is scheduled to return to Bremen on 2026-06-30 at the conclusion of the loan. The deal does not signal a contract expiry at Werder, but its limited duration means his medium-term future beyond the loan will depend on decisions taken after his return to Germany.
Alvero’s move to Amiens marks the latest chapter in a career that has already taken him through several clubs and leagues despite his young age. Formed at FC Sochaux-Montbéliard, he progressed from the U19 side to Sochaux B and then into the first team, before Olympique Lyon signed him from Sochaux. From Lyon he first left France for Germany, joining Werder Bremen, initially on loan and then via a permanent transfer. His latest loan sends him back to France, this time to Amiens in Ligue 2, rather than to a top-flight Ligue 1 side.
A France/Angola national, Alvero is listed primarily as a defensive midfielder and stands out physically at 2.02 m, operating as a right-footed holding presence in the centre of the pitch. His market value has fluctuated in recent seasons, peaking at €4.00m during spells with Sochaux, Lyon and Werder before settling at €2.50m ahead of this Amiens move. That trajectory underlines both the early expectations around his potential and the recalibration of his status as he seeks regular minutes and a fresh platform to rebuild momentum.
The loan to Amiens situates him in Ligue 2 after experience in the Bundesliga and prior stints in French professional and reserve competitions. While the agreement is temporary, the structure of the deal means that once his loan expires on 2026-06-30 and he returns to Werder Bremen, any subsequent decision not to extend or renew his terms in Germany could eventually open the door to free-agent status. For now, though, he remains tied to Werder and is simply registered to play for Amiens during this loan spell.
Having already navigated moves between Sochaux, Lyon and Werder, Alvero now faces another adaptation test in Amiens. If he can stabilise his form and confirm the qualities that once drove his valuation upwards, this loan could become a pivotal stretch in his career, either re-establishing his role back in Bremen after 2026-06-30 or positioning him for a more permanent opportunity elsewhere once his contractual situation in Germany evolves.
