Siyanda Ndlovu hails Golden Arrows after dramatic late switch to Mamelodi Sundowns

New Mamelodi Sundowns signing Siyanda Ndlovu has paid an emotional tribute to Golden Arrows after the reigning Betway Premiership champions hijacked an expected move to Orlando Pirates to secure his signature.

The 22-year-old forward, who has joined the Brazilians after a late approach from the Chloorkop club, was widely anticipated to be on his way to Pirates before Sundowns stepped in to complete the deal.

That last-minute intervention has altered the trajectory of his career, with Ndlovu now set to continue his development under the champions rather than at the Soweto giants.

Farewell to Arrows

Ndlovu used social media to say goodbye to Golden Arrows, the club where he made his professional breakthrough after progressing from the reserves.

In a message posted on Instagram, he thanked the Durban side and its supporters for helping launch his top-flight career and for the role they played in his growth as a player.

“To the club, the coaching staff, my teammates, and the incredible supporters, thank you for every opportunity, every lesson, and every moment we’ve shared,” he wrote.

“Wearing these colours has been an honour, and I’m grateful for the trust, encouragement, and belief you’ve shown in me throughout this journey.

“The memories we’ve created together will always have a special place in my heart.”

Rise at Golden Arrows

Born in Newcastle, Ndlovu joined the Golden Arrows senior setup in 2023 after being promoted from the club’s reserve ranks.

He developed steadily with Abafana Bes’thende, earning a reputation as one of their most promising young attacking talents.

The forward’s performances attracted attention from some of the country’s biggest clubs, ultimately sparking the transfer tussle that ended with Sundowns stepping in late to clinch a deal.

Ndlovu said the experiences and relationships built at the KwaZulu-Natal side would continue to shape him as he embarks on the next phase of his career at Sundowns.

While his focus now shifts to establishing himself at Chloorkop, the attacker made clear that his time with Golden Arrows – and the platform they provided – will remain a defining part of his journey in the Betway Premiership.
