The South African football fraternity is in mourning after the heartbreaking loss of Phezulu FC players Siyabonga Zulu and Nhlanhla Masina in a fatal car accident on February 16, 2025.
The duo was traveling from Secunda to Evander following a league match against FC Sivutsa when their vehicle collided with a double-cab van reportedly driving in the wrong lane.
Zulu, a former Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana defender, and Masina tragically died at the scene, while teammate Thabo Mosadi remains in critical condition.
Zulu, 31, had a decorated career, playing for top clubs such as Orlando Pirates, Platinum Stars, and Chippa United. Masina, 30, was also highly regarded in South African football circles. Their dedication and passion for the game left a lasting impact both on and off the field.
Mamelodi Sundowns and other clubs paid tribute to Zulu’s contributions, while fans and teammates continue to grieve this immense loss. The football community stands united in honoring their memory.
