Siwelele switch TS Galaxy opener to Toyota Stadium amid pitch repairs

Siwelele FC have moved their first Betway Premiership home match of the new season against TS Galaxy to Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein because of urgent work on their usual home pitch.

The club confirmed that the league clash, originally scheduled for the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium, will now be played at Toyota Stadium on 2 August, with kick-off set for 18:00 local time.

The Betway Premiership campaign begins on 1 August, with Siwelele hosting Galaxy the following day in what is already shaping up to be a showcase of heavily revamped squads on both sides.

Fixture moved for ‘essential’ pitch work

In a statement released on their social media platforms, Siwelele said the change of venue was unavoidable as their traditional home ground undergoes maintenance ahead of the new campaign.

The club said: “Please note that our opening home fixture against TS Galaxy has been moved to Toyota Stadium due to essential pitch rehabilitation work at Dr Molemela Stadium.”

Details on ticketing and organised supporter transport are expected to be announced later this week, with the club urging fans to monitor official channels for updates.

The late adjustment means supporters who had expected to return to Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium for top-flight football must now alter their plans for the opening weekend, though the match will remain in Bloemfontein.

Near-total squad overhaul at Siwelele

Off the pitch, Siwelele have been among the busiest clubs in the transfer market, reshaping their squad following the departure of a host of players after last season.
