Siphesihle Ndlovu: Kaizer Chiefs must beat Golden Arrows to stay in title race

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Siphesihle Ndlovu says collecting three points against Golden Arrows on Sunday is essential if Amakhosi are to remain in the Betway Premiership title race.

Chiefs face Abafana Bes’thende at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit, seeking a response after drawing 1-1 with Polokwane City in their previous league match.

Golden Arrows, meanwhile, will be targeting their second league victory as they look to continue their strong record against some of the competition’s bigger clubs.

Ndlovu expects a difficult contest but believes Chiefs must find a way to win, regardless of how the performance unfolds.

“If we want to stay in the title race, this game is vital to us continuing our journey, so whether we win in style or by grinding it out, we want those three points on Sunday,” Ndlovu said, according to the Kaizer Chiefs website.

He identified Golden Arrows’ ability to control possession and threaten on the counter-attack as key dangers.

“They are a possession-based side that is also dangerous in transition, so they are tricky to play against but we have our own tactical plan that will nullify their strengths and pose them problems,” he added.

Golden Arrows won the most recent meeting between the clubs, beating Chiefs 1-0 in the MTN8 quarter-final at FNB Stadium last month.
