Abdelhak Bencheikh, the Algerian coach of Simba SC, has affirmed his team’s determination to secure victory against Jwaneng Galaxy FC of Botswana in the final round of the group stage of the African Champions League to advance to the quarter-finals.
Speaking at a press conference preceding the match, Bencheikh stated that Simba relies solely on its players and the support of its fans to triumph over Jwaneng Galaxy, indifferent to the outcome of Wydad’s match against AS Vita Club of Ivory Coast.
“We will play our match without any pressure. Our qualification to the quarter-finals is within our grasp because our victory guarantees progression to the next round.
We are not concerned about Wydad’s result, and it is up to us to secure passage,” Bencheikh explained.
He further elaborated, “We will approach the game against Jwaneng as if it were a final because we know that the sole qualifier is AS Vita Club.
However, we have the advantage, which we must exploit, thanks to the support of the fans who will attend to cheer us on.”
“G Galaxy is not an easy opponent; on the contrary, they also have a good chance and are progressing well.
The evidence is their good performance against Wydad in the last round despite the loss.
We recognize that the match will be tough, and we have prepared adequately to secure qualification to the quarter-finals,” Bencheikh added.
Concluding his remarks, Bencheikh expressed confidence in the abilities of Simba’s players and relied on them to secure victory at home, stating, “I trust in the capabilities of the Simba players, and I count on them to win on our turf because we have worked all week for this.
I have a clear goal, which is victory and qualification, and nothing else.”
It is worth noting that AS Vita Club, who have already secured passage to the quarter-finals, top their group with 11 points, followed by Simba SC and Wydad with six points each.
Jwaneng Galaxy FC of Botswana sits at the bottom with four points.
