Simba SC overwhelm 15 de Agosto as former PSL stars score

Former Premier League Soccer players Keletso Makgalwa and Anicet Oura both scored as Steve Barker’s Simba SC began their CAF Champions League second preliminary round tie with a 6-1 victory over 15 de Agosto on Wednesday.

The first-leg match was played away from home after it had been postponed over the weekend, with Simba producing another emphatic performance to extend their winning run to 10 matches.

Nathan Chilambo put the Tanzanian side ahead in the 44th minute, giving Simba a 1-0 lead at half-time.

Simba increased their advantage after the break, with Elie Mpanzu making it 2-0 after 56 minutes. Ibrahim Doumbia then added a third in the 65th minute as Barker’s team continued to dominate.

Makgalwa, formerly of Premier League Soccer side Sekhukhune United, scored Simba’s fourth goal after 72 minutes.

Oura, who previously played for Premier League Soccer club Stellenbosch FC, found the net 10 minutes later to put Simba 5-0 ahead.

Doumbia completed his brace in the 88th minute, before 15 de Agosto scored a consolation goal in the 91st minute.

The result leaves Simba SC in a strong position before the second leg in Tanzania on Sunday.
