Simba SC chairman Murtaza Mangungu has explained why the club had no option but to part ways with former head coach Fadlu Davids.
Davids departed the Tanzanian giants abruptly in September 2025, just a few matches into the 2025/26 season, ending his tenure after only a year and two months.
His exit paved the way for a return to Moroccan side Raja Club Athletic, where he had previously served as assistant to German coach Josef Zinnbauer, this time stepping in as head coach.
Speaking to Tanzanian outlet Soka La Bongo, Mangungu acknowledged that the club could not have prevented Davids’ departure.
“When we started the season and signed the players he recommended, a big offer came for him and we had no choice but to let him go.
“That disrupted us greatly because we had to return to the market to look for another coach.”
Mangungu added that while supporters and pundits are free to praise or criticize whoever they choose, the responsibility for the team’s performance ultimately rests with him.
“What I accept is that those people should praise whoever they like, but the blame should come to me.
“I cannot deliberately make the team perform badly, because we have created a capable board and management to work with the technical bench and the players.”
