Simba Bhora claims provisional lead in Zimbabwean PSL standings
Simba Bhora emerged as the standout performer in Zimbabwe’s Premier Soccer League (PSL) on Saturday, May 11, 2024, securing a vital home victory against Ngezi Platinum. Alongside this pivotal win, three additional matches unfolded, shaping the day’s football landscape.
Despite an initial setback with Tapiwa Mandinyenya’s 29th-minute opener, Simba Bhora showcased resilience, orchestrating a remarkable comeback after halftime.
Billy Vheremu’s equalizer in the 75th minute injected renewed vigor into the Shamva-based club.
The pivotal moment arrived in the 88th minute when Simba Bhora capitalized on an own goal, propelling themselves into the lead with a 2-1 advantage.
The scoreline remained unaltered, cementing Simba Bhora’s triumphant ascent to the summit of the league table.
With 20 points to their name, they currently hold the provisional top spot, edging past Highlanders FC and Manica, each with 19 points.
Meanwhile, Ngezi Platinum finds themselves in 10th place, tallying 12 points as they reflect on missed opportunities in the encounter.
