Sierra Leone step up CAN 2027 preparations ahead of Zimbabwe opener

Sierra Leone have intensified their preparations for the CAN 2027 qualifiers with their first official training session in Morocco ahead of Thursday’s group E opener against Zimbabwe.

The Leone Stars will face Zimbabwe on Thursday 24 September in El Jadida, with both sides beginning their campaign in the first round of Group E.

Following the training session, Sierra Leone manager Didier Gomes Da Rosa held a meeting with the squad. Team Manager Abdul Karim Bangura also attended as the team focused on final preparations for their opening fixture.

Gomes Da Rosa underlined the importance of cohesion, unity and collective effort as the Leone Stars prepare for their first competitive test.

Bangura reminded the players of their responsibilities as ambassadors of Sierra Leone and stressed the significance of representing their country.

Captain Osman Kakay urged his team-mates to show leadership and discipline while respecting the rules established within the group.

Kakay and Sallieu Tarawallie also delivered a motivational message to the squad before the meeting with Zimbabwe, as Sierra Leone continued to build towards their opening CAN 2027 qualifier.
